New, New, New! From Bogus Records!

"On the heels of 2014's remarkable EP, for their first full album the Wurms team up with producer Carl M. Grefenstette, a Pittsburgh music legend in his own right, whose achievements include producing the first Pittsburgh punk rock compilation and, as the drummer for the Flashcats, helping to bring Bull Moose Jackson out of retirement for one final album and a last round of shows. Now Grefenstette has another feather in his cap.

On the back cover of the CD, Grefenstette says, The Wurms write great songs! They get stuck in your head. He'll get no argument from me. There are no fancy political statements here, just 12 songs meant for having a good time. The Wurms obviously cut their teeth on early '60s rock-n-roll yet write songs that are fresh and original. Some ("She Told Me So," "Everyone's Got a Weakness," "The Last Words You Said to Me") are almost deceptively simple, but like the man said, they get stuck in your head.

There are other songs that are not so simple, where I wonder how the Wurms managed to pull them off. "Bird Above Me" starts with a quirky rhythm that brings to mind Devo or the B-52's, then seamlessly slows the tempo and segues into a '50s-like chorus. "It's Called Love" is almost like a show tune, with what sounds like a swinging horn section (there are no guest musicians here, so I'm guessing it's an effect from the keyboards), interrupted by a country-flavored guitar solo. Somehow these mixed marriages of seemingly incongruent musical genres work.

For sure, there's enough variety here to keep the ears interested!"

This 5-song EP-CD is a sampling of The Wurm's catchy, slightly tongue-in-cheek, kick-ass rock originals. Recorded at Studio L by the legendary producer Rick Witkowski, this CD shows why The Wurms are such a popular live act. In the words of Witkowski, "They're Wurmderful!"

Plus! Just Reissued: The History of The Flashcats!

DVDPete Cover

This DVD was originally released in 2001 and it's narrated by Flashcat trumpet player, singer and comedic ringleader, the late Sweet Pete Loria. Hear Pete describe the history of the band... from an odd ad in a newspaper to the stages of Los Angeles. Tons of vintage live footage, outtakes, and a director's commentary.

The re-release is dedicated to the memory of Sweet Pete and singer/bass player Jim Jr Fanning. Jim passed away in late 2013, which brought to a close the 34-year history of the fabulous Flashcats.

And Don't Miss:

Geoff Cover

Bogus Records' great friend Geoff Nugent was the vocalist and guitarist of the legendary Liverpool band, The Undertakers. In 2010 Geoff visited the United States and during a studio party this unplanned recording was made. Although the session was impromptu, Geoff gave it 110%, just as he always did back home with The Undertakers. The result is an exciting collection of rock & roll classics in a festive party atmosphere.

Sadly Geoff passed away in the fall of 2014, joining his late bandmates, fellow Undertakers Jackie Lomax and Bugs Pemberton, in that great Cavern Club in the sky.
But he rocks on forever!

Also, Direct From Liverpool:

Music from the original members of John Lennon's original Quarrymen,
the band that evolved into The Beatles! After reuniting for a benefit concert in Liverpool in 1997, the band recorded this CD -- a 15-track tour of the skiffle music that was
regularly performed live by the Quarrymen in the late 1950s.
This disc offers a rare chance to hear some of
Lennon's and The Beatles' early musical roots.
